About PGR International Studentships 2021/22:

This is an international studentship to finance MPhil/PhD studies in any of the King’s Health Faculties or the Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences. The project must begin in June 2022.

MPhil/PhD programmes that fall in any of the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine
  • Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience
  • Faculty of Natural & Mathematical Sciences
  • Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care
  • Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences

This Scholarship covers:

  • Full international tuition fees
  • An annual stipend (UKRI-level) of £17,609 (for 2021/22)
  • Research costs of up to £5000 per annum (depending on the project)

Eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must be an overseas student with no prior affiliation with King’s College London.
  • The candidate must be pursuing a full-time MPhil/PhD programme in one of the disciplines listed.
  • The MPhil or PhD programme of the candidate must begin in June 2022.
  • By 31 January 2022, the candidate must have received an admission offer to King’s College London in the relevant programme.
  • The candidates must not have started their doctoral studies at King’s College London yet.
  • Applicants who intend to join distance learning programmes are ineligible to apply.
  • Professional doctorate degrees such as MD(Res) and DClinPsy are not acceptable.
  • Applicants who intend to participate in joint PhD programmes are not eligible to apply.

Selection Process:

The faculty will evaluate eligible individuals who have successfully submitted for the studentship before October 1, 2021. Faculty members must nominate and rank a small number of their best candidates by January 31, 2022 (23:59 GMT) for consideration by a central panel. Those who have been shortlisted should have received an admission offer by this point. The following criteria will be used to make the decision:

  • Academic excellence of the candidate
  • Research proposal
  • Statement of Justification

The successful candidates for the studentships will be determined by a central assessment panel.

By the 1st of March 2022, the results will be sent out through email.
