The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an ongoing National Fellowship programme in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, with the goal of attracting exceptionally bright students to pursue basic science courses and a career in science research.
The goal is to discover students with research skill and aptitude, assist them in realising their academic potential, encourage them to pursue research careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.

STREAM SA: Forenoon 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM (Candidates should report at 8AM)
STREAM SB/SX: Afternoon 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM (Candidates should report at 1 PM)
IMPORTANT NOTE: THE KVPY FELLOWSHIP-2021 WILL BE AWARDED SOLELY BASED ON APTITUDE TEST WITHOUT INTERVIEWS.
KVPY reserves the right to postpone the aptitude test due to any reason, including the prevailing situation arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mode of Examination: Computer Based Test (CBT) ONLINE
Students may apply Online by clearly indicating the stream (i.e., SA/SX/SB).
Eligibility for Stream SA: (Generally, students enrolled in XI standard)
Due to prevailing COVID-19 situation, as one-time measure, students who have passed X Standard Board Examination and eligible to enroll in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2021-22, are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The student should produce a study certificate of XI class once they are selected as a provisional KVPY fellow. Moreover, the fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an under graduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2023-24 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE Subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be invited for the National Science Camp (Vijyoshi) and their travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY.
Eligibility for Stream SX: (Students enrolled in XII standard)
Students enrolled in XII Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2021β22 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) during the academic year 2022β23. The Fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an undergraduate course in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2022-23 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII standard Board Examination.
Eligibility for Stream SB: (Generally, students enrolled in 1st year of B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.)
Due to prevailing COVID-19 situation, as one-time measure, students who have passed XII Board Examination and eligible to enroll in the 1st year of B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. during the academic year 2021β22 are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The student should produce a study certificate of 1st year B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. once they are selected as a provisional KVPY fellow. Moreover, the fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join an undergraduate program in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2021-22 and secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in 1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.
Application Fee: For General category Rs. 1,250/- (Rupees one thousand two hundred and fifty only) and Rs. 625/- (Rupees six hundred twenty-five only) for Students belonging to SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities. Application fee once paid will not be refunded
Mode of payment: Credit Card, ATM-Debit Card, UPI or Net Banking. No other means of payment will be accepted.
Pattern of examination:
In the Stream-SA all questions are compulsory (Science and Mathematics).
In respect of the streams SB and SX, there will be four sections in Part I (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics) and four sections in Part II (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics). Candidates may answer any THREE of the four subjects in Part I and any TWO of the four subjects in Part II. In case candidate attempts more sections, best of three in Part I and best of two in Part II is considered.
Selection: Candidates are generally selected based on the aptitude test and interviews. But the KVPY fellowship-2021 will be awarded solely based on aptitude test without interviews.
Fellowship:
SA/SX/SB- during 1st to 3rd years of – B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. / Integrated M.Sc. /M.S. – Rs. 5000 per month and Rs. 20000 Annual Contingency Grant
SA/SX/SB- during M. Sc. / 4th to 5th years of Integrated M.Sc. /M.S./M.Math./M.Stat. – Rs. 7000 per month and Rs. 28000 Annual Contingency Grant

Step 2. Filling personal and academic details, choosing test centres and uploading photo, signature and other certificates, as applicable.
Step 3. Payment of application fees. Please note that you must pay the application fee only at the KVPY application portal. This can be done by using a Credit Card, ATM-Debit Card, UPI or Net Banking. No other means of payment will be accepted. Once the payment is successful and application is submitted, no refund of application fee will be done
