Globalink Research Internship (GRI) 2022:
Mitacs Globalink Research Internship offers a 12-week research internship for international undergraduates (or students enrolled in a combined undergraduate/master’s program). Top ranked applicants are awarded internship under the supervision of outstanding faculty members from Canadian universities. Internships are available in a wide range of academic fields, including science, engineering, and mathematics, as well as the humanities and social sciences at over 70 universities across Canada. Excellent institutions, world-class research facilities, cutting-edge industrial innovation, and unrivalled undergraduate training options abound in Canada.
The eligible countries and regions are: Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Pakistan, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States.

Also, GRI alumni are eligible for the Mitacs Globalink Graduate Fellowship if they are interested in returning to Canada for graduate studies.

What does this internship offer?
- Based on student’s research interests, skills, and expertise, a matched project with a Canadian professor and university.
- A stipend of up to $300 is available to help with student enrollment expenses.

Eligibility criteria:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- At the time of application, you must be at least 18 years old.
- Be enrolled full-time in a qualifying institution’s undergraduate or combined undergraduate/program. master’s (see list of eligible institutions by country)
- As of Fall 2022, they have one to three semesters left in their programme.
- Meet the standards for their country of study in terms of grades. (To see GPA requirements and additional requirements for each country visit STUDENT APPLICATION tab on the official website and scroll down to find all the participating countries.)
- Apply to a minimum of three and a maximum of seven projects, with at least three distinct Canadian provinces represented.
- Be proficient in the project’s spoken and written languages (English and/or French).
- Between May 1 and October 31, you must be available to finish a 12-week internship.
Before Applying:
- Review all eligibility requirements.
- Confirm that your passport is valid until at least January 2023. (If you do not presently have a valid passport, you are welcome to apply. If your application is accepted, you will be required to supply valid passport information.)
- Obtain a letter of recommendation from a professor. Please see the procedures for writing a reference letter. All reference letters must adhere to the guidelines provided.
- Update your curriculum vitae: You may either send your own CV or download and use the Mitacs template.
- Obtain a copy of your academic transcripts (in either English or French). You must get your transcripts translated and notarized if your university or institution does not give them in either language. Transcripts are required to be submitted with your application.
- For some countries, language proficiency exams in English or French may be needed. For further information, please refer to the details for your country.
You will be questioned about the following in the application:
